I saved them as MP3 files, in fact.

The guy is a textbook abuser. The relentless contempt, ridicule, rage, and hatred he subjected her to is completely indefensible.

He wasn't drunk (and even if he was, so what? Most drunk people, or alcoholics, never behave that way). He's not crazy or mentally ill. He just has shit for personality. It's that simple: he's a bully with bad entitlement issues.

I was so irritated when the press focused on his use of racial slurs. Almost nobody said: "Sounds like he's capable of blowing her head off!"

I was in an abusive relationship--when I left, the guy went nuts. I had to get a restraining order, go to court, the whole deal.

My Ex sounded JUST LIKE Gibson. The ranting, raving, relentless insults, calling a million times a night. I recognized it right away.

The Mel on those tapes? I bet it was just another typical night at the Gibson household. I can guess what it was like to live with that guy for a few years.

Unfortunately, with the kid, she'll never be entirely free of him. He'll use their daughter to torture her and be an otherwise negligent parent.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6940190008122961917.post-14110555201889213252010-08-04T19:09:03.840-04:002010-08-04T19:09:03.840-04:00Sorry, Allie, you got "lost" in moderati...Sorry, Allie, you got "lost" in moderation!

The night the story broke, I was listening to a jazz show on an Atlanta station, and the DJ wondered between sets whether Mel was really acting in those early movies, or just playing himself.

Chicken, or egg?Virginia S.
